A Family Portrait (AFAM)

I pushed the expressions and proportions beyond naturalism to make the underlying tension visible. This is not meant to be an idealized portrait. It sits in the space where affection, necessity, and imbalance coexist without resolution.

The blue-violet background, deliberately flat and antiseptic, echoes the visual language of a passport photo. It becomes a kind of bureaucratic void, stripping away any sense of place or belonging and reducing the subjects to an official record. What remains is not a home, but documentation.

The distortions carry the psychological weight of that condition. Their wide, toothy smiles are not purely joyful. They suggest something more fragile, a negotiated happiness, where each person depends on the other in ways that are both sincere and transactional. It is a bond that functions as survival as much as companionship.
