How to Create an Online Community
The art world is crowded. Everyone is posting. Everyone is competing for attention. Most of it disappears as quickly as it’s seen.
So the question is simple. Are you just another voice in the noise, or are you building something with your peers?
If you already have a circle of like-minded artists, collectors, or supporters, even a small one, that’s not nothing. That’s the beginning of a community. And a community, when it’s intentional, has leverage.
At ArtistSea, you can turn that circle into a defined space. Not just a feed, not just scattered posts, but a place with identity, direction, and purpose.
More importantly, you can do something most platforms don’t really offer. You can organize an online exhibition. Not as an afterthought, but as a shared event. Something people prepare for. Something people show up to. The only requirement is reaching the minimum number of exhibiting members. In other words, participation matters.
Because that’s the shift. From posting to building. From hoping to be seen, to creating a space where people actually look.
Creating your community in ArtistSea is simple:
- Click the “+ Create Community” button in the upper right under the Communities section, or click here.
- Choose a name for your community.
- Write a description that makes it clear what you stand for.
Set your privacy:
- Public — Anyone can find and join this community
- Private — Anyone can find this community, but must be approved to join
- Hidden — Only people with an invite link can find and join this community
Click “Save,” and you instantly become the admin of your freshly minted community. You can now generate an invite link to your community. You can send this link, via SMS or email, to people you would like to join your community.
What you do with it after that is the real question.
